WALTERS TAKE REGION VII VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP IN FIVE GAME THRILLER

The NJCAA Region VII Volleyball championship game down to a will and wants as Walters State took the final two games in a five game thriller to be crowned this year's champion.  The fans in attendance saw a great match full of ups and downs for both squads.  Walters would take the first game of the match 330-28.  Chattanooga would respond by winning the next two games by scores of 25-19 and 25-23.  Walters would tie it at two games apiece with another 25-23 thriller in game four.  Walters would take the final game 15-8 for the match win.

Walters would have three players reach double figures in kills led by Jordan Moore with 18 followed by Mackenzie Sweigart and Bella Webb with 12 and 10 kills.  Webb and Hannah Freeman each had double figures in assist with 37 and 13.  Faith Heskett had 22 digs to lead the team while Freeman and Brittany Kitchens each had 15 apiece.  

For Chattanooga, Mollie McCoy had 30 kills followed by McKenna Hayes with 18 total.  Ellee McDaniel had 61 assists in the match. The Lady Tigers had four players reach double figures in digs led by Rylle McDaniel with 27.  Ellee McDaniel was next with 23 followed by Hayes with 11 and Ryen Hale with ten.

Walters' Webb was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.  With the win, Walters advances to the Southeast B District Championship where they will travel to Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington (NC).  That match will be played Friday, November 4th, with the winner advancing to the NJCAA Divisiuon II Volleyball National Championship November 17-19 in Cedar Rapids (IA).
