LADY TIGERS SECURE THEIR SPOT IN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP WITH REGION CHAMPIONSHIP; VAZQUEZ-TROCHE NAMED MVP

The Chattanooga State Lady Tigers fought their way back from a halftime deficit to defeat the Lady Senators of Walters State 54-52 to earn their way to the 2024 NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship to be held at the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper (WY) from March 26 thru April 1st.  The Lady Tigers currently sit at the #25 spot in the NJCAA National Poll.  They will find out their first round opponent later this week in a selction show you ill be able to view at njcaa.com.

The championship was a hard and toughly fought contest throughout the first half.  The Lady Senators were able to pull away in the 2nd quarter to lead 31-20 at the break.  The Lady Tigers got themselves back in the ball game in the 3rd quarter as they trailed by 3 at 39-36 with ten minutes to play.  Chattanooga would pull ahead late and then hit free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.

Silkiari Vazquez-Troche would earn MVP honors as she would score 21 points and secure ten rebounds to lead her squad in those categories.  Jordan Harris would also score in double digits with 16 points and nine rebounds.  Vazquez-Troche would also lead the squad with three assists while Tamyra Carter would lead with three steals.

Kristyna Boyd would lead the Lady Senators with 17 points and six rebounds.  Kyra Perkins would reach double figures with 14 points and share team high in rebounds with 7 with Briontay Marshall.  Boyd would also lead the team with five assists.

With the win, the Lady Tigers sit at 31-1 on the season.
