CLEVELAND'S HARRELL LEADS A TRIO OF LADIES EARNING ALL AMERICAN RECOGNITION

Cleveland State's Asjah Harrell led a trio of ladies who All-American recognition this past week.  Harrell was named to the 2nd team while Dyersburg State's Kira Lowery was named 3rd team.  Chattanooga State's Melisa Carter was named Honorable Mention.

Harrell, a 5'6" freshman guard, averaged 20.2 games a season for the Lady Cougars.  She hit on 43.8% of her shots which included 36.1% from behind the 3-point arc.  She made good on 72.6% of her free throws.  She averaged 3.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 3.5 steals in leading Cleveland to a 17-11 overall record.  She was named the TCCAA Most Valuable Player and Freshman of the Year.  She was also a first teamm selection to the TCCAA All Conference.

Lowery, a 5'7" sophomore guard, averaged 23.3 points a game for the Lady Eagles.  She connected on 60.8% of her shots from the field including 36.1% of her shots from 3-point range.  She made good on 77.7% of her free throws.  She averaged 4.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 4 steals a game, leading Dyersburg to a 24-8 overall record.  She was named the TCCAA Best Offensive Player and was a first team All-Conference selection.  

Carter, a 5'8" freshman forward, averaged 17.7 points a game for the Lady Tigers.  She made good on 56.2% of her shots from the field; 22.2% from 3 point range.  She made good on 58.4% of her free throws.  She averaged 9.9 rebounds, 0.7 assists, and 1.9 steals a game for Chattanooga.  She helped lead the Lady Tigers to 27-5 overall record and a TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Tournament Championship.  She was also a first team All-Conference selection.
