TOP SEEDS ADVANCE TO WOMEN'S SEMIS

The semifinals were set for the women's tournament on Sunday as all the top four teams advanced in quarterfinal action.  Walters State defeated Roane State by an 84-42 final.  They will face Dyersburg State, who defeated Jackson State by a score of 80-66.  Chattanooga dvanced with a 66-53 win over Motlow State.  They will meet Cleveland State who held on for a 68-57 victory over Southwest Tennessee.

Walters placed two in double figures with 23 points by Jamya Rogers leading the way.  Paris Mullins also reached with 19 points.  Alexis Trice and Quentarra Mitchell led the team with nine rebounds while Trice also led with seven assists.  Lapraisia Ward and Naomi Jefferson each had double figures for Roane with 20 and 11 points.  Jeffersonn also led with nine rebounds and two assists.

Dyersburg had four scorers reach double figures with Samaria Pugh leading the way with 23 points followed closely by Kira Lowery with 20 points.  Sinetra Jones and Hanna Box each finished with ten points.  Jones led with a team high 25 rebounds and eight block shots.  Jackson was led by Iya Jones with 20 points.  Two other players reached double figures with Alexis Akins scoring 17 and Kyasia Overstreet finishing with 11 points.  Jones and Overstreet had double doubles with 12 and ten rebounds, respectively.  Jones also had four assists.

Chattanooga was led by Melisa Carter and Michelle Smith with 17 points apiece.  Gee Gee Hollingsworth-Pugh also reached double figures with ten points.  Carter had a double double with 11 rebounds while Naja Fenelon led with six assists.  Motlow was led by a trio of players in double figures.  Kursten hawkins came off the bench to lead with 17 points whileTanisia Murphy and Kevanika Brown had 12 and 11 points.  Thandwie Sims led with 12 rebounds while Brown had two assists.

Cleveland State had three scorers reach double figures led by Asjah Harrell leading the way with game high 27 points to go with five assists and five steals.  Cassidy Nihoff was next with 14 points while Za'kkria Robinson finshed with a double double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.  Britnay Gore led the team with 12 rebounds.  Southwest Tennessee had two reach double figures with Daisha Seltzer finishing with 21 points to go with a team high five rebounds.  Derenisha Taylor finished with 13 points.  Taliyah Brown had team high three assists.
