TOP SEEDS HOLD TRUE IN WOMEN'S PLAY IN GAMES

In the play in games for the start of the women's NJCAA Region VII Tournament, the top seeds were able to hold serve to adnace to the quarterfinal round of the tournament.  In the first game of the day, Roane State was able to pull away early on their way to a 75-44 triumph over Volunteer State.  In the second game, Motlow State put away the host Columbia State team by a 71-40 final.  

In the Roane State win, the Lady Raiders had three players reach double figures.  Riley Guillemet led the way with a double-double as she scored 35 points to go with ten rebounds.  LaPraisia Ward and Vanessa ferguson each also reached doulbe digits with 22 and 10 points.  Ferguson was also credited with five assists and five steals.  The Lady Pioneers had two in record double-doubles led by Xavia Williams with 15 points to go with a team high 12 rebounds.  Anaya Martin had ten points and ten rebounds.

In the nightcap, the Lady Bucks put away the hosts early with three players reaching double figures.  Nya Caruthers led the way with 26 points, and was supported by Katie Thomas with 18 and Tanisia Murphy with 11 points.  Kevanika Brown had a team high nine rebounds and Murphy had five assists.  For the Lady Chargers, the had two reach double figures with Treshondra Williams with15 points and 15 rebounds.  She was followed by Diamond Cannon with 13 points and 11 rebounds to go with three steals.
