CHATTANOOGA RECIEVES #5 SEED, TO FACE CHIPOLA IN FIRST ROUND OF WORLD SERIES

The Chattanooga State Lady tiger softball team recieved the #5 seed for the upcoming NJCAA Division I Softball World Series to be held in Yuma (AZ) starting Monday at the Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex.

The Lady Tigers will face the South Atlantaic B District Champion Chipola at 6:30pm EDT.  

Chattanooga State currently stands at 48-7 on the year after winning the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Appalachian District Championship this past week.  The team currently have a .385 batting average led by Addison Keef, Laylah Turner, and Brooke Watson who each have averages of .400 or better.  They have 32 home runs s a team led by Turner with 12 and Watson with nine.  Turner, Watson, Kamryn Bradley, and Abby Ferguson have each driven in more that 40 runs.  The pitching staff is led by Olivia Laney and Olivia Steinorth.  Laney has an 18-0 record with 0.95 ERA.  She has 190 strikeouts in 118 innings pitched.  Steinorth is 14-4 on the year with a 1.04 ERA.  She has 134 strikeouts in 121 and a third innings pitched this year.

Chiploa is 33-18 on the year.  They have a .309 team batting average with 25 home runs and 279 RBIs.  They have a 4.13 team ERA and have 243 strikeouts in 332 and a third innings pitched.

The winner of this contest will face #4 seed Grayson (TX), the Southwest A District Champion who have a 50-7 overall record.
