TCCAA announces Softball Awards, All-TCCAA Teams

On Friday, the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association announced their special awards and All-TCCAA teams for the 2024 softball season.

 

Volunteer State's Lydia Kirby was named the TCCAA Softball Player of the Year, while Walters State's Tori Coffman was named the TCCAA Pitcher of the Year. Chattanooga State's Blythe Golden was named the TCCAA Coach of the Year. 

 

Kirby was named Player of the Year in her freshman season for the Pioneers. Kirby hit .445 with 16 home runs and a whopping 96 RBI. Kirby leads the conference in RBI and is second in the country. Kirby is tied for fourth in the conference in home runs. Kirby hit .482 in conference play and had a .542 OBP.

 

Despite missing a month, the Lady Senators' Coffman was named TCCAA Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season. Coffman finished the regular season with an 18-1 record and has five saves. She struck out 216 in 114.2 innings and has a 0.61 ERA. Coffman is first in the conference, and second in the country, in ERA, first in the conference in strikeouts, tied for first in the conference in wins and first in the conference in saves. 

 

Lastly, Golden earned Coach of the Year honors after a tie for the regular season conference title. Chatt State went 31-5 in the conference and 41-11 overall. The Lady Tigers are ranked No. 16 in the country and are the No. 2 seed in the TCCAA Tournament. 

 

Named to the First Team All-TCCAA Team were Walters State's Coffman and Chattanooga State's Jessica Cord at pitcher, Walters State's Jules Johnson at catcher, Volunteer State's Kirby, Chattanooga State's Megan Hall and Alexis Rosano, Walters State's Brooklyn Copley and Volunteer State's Korey Harris in the infield, Volunteer State's Bailey Ausbrooks as a utility player and Walters State's Kailey Dixon, Volunteer State's Katie Davis and Chattanooga State's Cholee Fryar and Caydra Parker in the outfield. 

 

Named to the Second Team All-TCCAA Team were Volunteer State's Kaitlyn Davis and Motlow State's Mary Bradley at pitcher, Dyersburg State's Shelby Durbin at catcher, Cleveland State's Kristen Fowler, Roane State's Alexis Morrison, Dyersburg State's Pearson Vaughan, Walters State's Nora Mack and Motlow State's Hannah Foster in the infield, Roane State's Hanna Jo McReynolds as a utility player and Volunteer State's Mikaylah Fuqua, Southwest Tennessee's Maleyia Prather, Walters State's Abigail Taylor and Jackson State's Jaden Boydstun in the outfield.
