WALTERS' COFFMAN, DYERSBURG'S THOMPSON EARN NJCAA HONORS

Tori Coffman of Walters State and Reagan Thompson of Dyersburg State were both recognized this week as the NJCAA National Athletes of the Week for Softball.  Coffman was named Pitcher of the Week while Thompson was honored as Player of the Week for the Week of March 8-14.

Coffman, a freshman pitcher for the Lady Senators, garnered three wins and a save in their sweep of Chattanooga State this past weekend.  She got wins in her two starts, both 8-0 wins, while picking up a win in relief on the first day and recording her save in the finale.  She threw 16 1/3 innings of work for the weekend, surrendering one unearned run on nine hits.  She had 31 strikeouts and only three walks in the four outings.

Thompson, a freshman catcher, had 13 hits in 19 at bats (a .684 average).  She had 15 Rbis with three doubles and 6 home runs.  She was waked three times and did not strike out in her plate appearances.  The Lady Eagles won all six of their contests with a doubleheader sweep of Mineral Area College and a series sweep of Columbia State over the weekend.
