LADY TIGERS SPLIT ON DAY TWO OF CHAMPIONSHIP

Chattanooga State faced the #1 team in the country in Florida Southwestern on Wednesday.  They fought the Bucs for seven innings before falling 1-0, but bounced back later in the day to eliminate Snead State 7-3.  They will face Wallace-Hanceville (AL) in the next round on Thursday.  They faced each other in the regular season with Wallace taking three out of the four games.

The Lady Tigers could only manage three hits against the Bucs, and saw their guests score with two out in the top of the sixth inning for the winning run.  The Lady Tigers had a chnace in the fourth inning as Katlin Leverette advanced to second with two outs, but was left  stranded.  Leverette would finish with two singles with Marquila Howell also with a single.  Samantha ryan went the distance, surrendering the single run on seven hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

They would then face Snead State that evening.  They would explode late in the game for the 7-3 win.  Maggie Knight would start the scoring in the second with a solo home run for an early 1-0 lead.  Knight would increase the lead with another solo home run in the fourth inning.  Snead would cut the lead in half before Jade Gainer joined the long ball brigade with a solo shot in the sixth.  They would manugacture four runs with their speed to put the game away in the seventh.  Taylor Penning would score on a Camryn Cernuto double, and then Marquila Howell would score on a fielder's choice.  Cernuto would then score on a sac fly from Leverette, and Ashlyn Holland would drive in Reagan Hartley with a single.

Chattanooga would have nine hits in the contest led by Knight's two home runs.  Cernuto would have a single and a doulbe in the game while five others would have a hit.  Ryan would again be the pitcher of record as she went the complete seven innings.  She surrendered three runs (two earned) on five hits with a walk and six strikeouts.
