WALTERS STATE CLAIMS NJCAA REGION VII GOLF CROWN

After waiting out a rain delay which shortened the Cleveland State Invitational from 36 to 18 holes, the Senators of Walters State claimes the 2025 NJCAA Region VII Championhip by shooting even par for the round.  They outdistanced runnerups Roane State and Cleveland State as both those teams came in 12 over scores for the round which was held at the Ooltewah Club in Ooltewah (TN).  Pellissippi State finished with a team score of +21 for the round.  As it was the last tournament all four conference teams would be participating in, it was determined that this would count as their region tournament. 

Bowen Brantley and Nick Talley both carded under par rounds on the day to lead Walters State.  Brantley was -2 (67) and Talley was one shot behind at 68.  Alex Gaetz was next with a 70 while Blake Woody was at 71 for the winning team total.  Sloan Brooks shot a 73 on the day. Jonas Rayfield and Ian Kinsey competed as individuals with Rayfield coming at +5 and Kinsey finishing +11.

Roane State was led by Tripp Hall who mtched Brantley with a 2 under par round.  Colby Johnson would finish +1 on the day and Noah Cambridge would finish at +4.  Eric Loftis and Jetson Murrell rounded out the team scoring for the Raiders with a 78 for Loftis ad a 79 for Murrell.  Braden Beverage competed as an individual and carded a 70 (+1).

Cleveland State was led by Carson Minish who came in with a round of 70 (+1).  Carson Milen and Andrew McCarver were next wit scores of 71 and 73.  Gray Loftin had a 74 while Seth Moore had a 75.  Daniel Moseley and Kadyn Copeland both competed as individuals with Mosesly carding a 75 and Copeland coming in with a score of 76.

Noah Whitten led Pellissippi with a 71 (+2).  Kevin Campbell and Elijah Backus both came in next with 74s.  Nathan Pierce and Lohan Sutton both came in next with a 78 while Zachary White also had a 78 while competing as an individual.

Tripp Hall would earn medalist honors as he defeated Brantley on the second hole of their playoff.  They were named to the NJCAA Region VII All-Tournament team along with Nick Talley, Blake Woods, and Alex Gaetz of Walters, Carson Minnish and Carson Milen of Cleveland, Colby Johnson of Roane, and Noah Whitten of Pellissippi.

All four teams qualify for the NJCAA Southeast District whih will be held April28-29 at the Country Club of Bristol in Bristol (TN).
