Shannon Skipper to lead Cleveland State Golf

Lee University graduate Shannon Skipper has been hired to lead the Men's Golf program at Cleveland State and looks to continue to build on the most recent success of Cougar Golf.

With an earned Bachelor's degree in the field of Adult Education and Training, Coach Skipper brings the knowledge, strategies and tactics to motivate, inspire and direct the collegiate golfer on the field of play and their academic and career aspirations.  A renowned golfer in the greater Cleveland area, Skipper possesses the uncanny ability to bring out the best in each student athlete golfer.

Retired from the business world, after owning successful businesses in medical practice and surgery centers, Coach Skipper is excited about bringing his managerial coaching skills, honed on 75-plus employees, during the past 26 years.  As an astute goal oriented professional, he brings a psychological expertise necessary to coach student athlete golfers to their highest level of success.

With a coaching style best described as nurturing while demanding accountability, Coach Skipper brings the organizational style necessary for a collegiate golf program to achieve success.  While understanding the dynamics of the game of golf, he also is a believer of utilizing technology to increase the performance of each player.

With a son currently playing high school golf, Skipper is enthusiastic about bringing his ability to understand and coach the collegiate golfer as they continue to develop physically and mentally.

Athletics Director Mike Policastro said:  "In Shannon Skipper, we have a golf coach who has the education, life and golf experiences who will lead Cleveland State's golf program on a sustained plane of success.  I look forward to the continued growth of our program."
