Walters State, Roane State and Cleveland State finish top-15 at NJCAA DII Golf Championship

PLYMOUTH, IN – All three TCCAA golf teams put up strong showings at the NJCAA DII Golf Championship this week at Swan Lake Resort. 


Walters State finished in third, defeating South Mountain in a playoff, to lead the way, while Roane State finished in sixth-place. Cleveland State turned in a 12th-place performance. 

 

Individually, four players were named NJCAA All-Americans. Walters State's AJ Rinehart led the way with a third-place finish at four-under to earn NJCAA 1st Team All-American honors. Along with Rinehart, the Senators' JT McKenzie finished in a tie for 12th at six-over to be named a NJCAA 2nd Team All-American. 

 

For Roane State, Caleb Tipton was named an NJCAA 2nd Team All-American with a five-over tournament that saw him in a tie for 10th. Additionally, the Raiders' Nick Daugherty was also named an NJCAA 2nd Team All-American after finishing in a tie for 16th at eight-over. 

 

Other finishers for Walters State in the tournament were Jeremy Ellis (T-45) at 16-over, Sawyer Spoone (T-49) at 17-over and Chad Homan (T-75) at 26-over. 

 

For Roane State, other finishers were Kieran McCarthy (T-41) at 15-over, Seth Robinette (T-45) at 16-over and Louie Stott (T-49) at 17-over. 

 

For Cleveland State, Reese McFatter was the top finisher in a tie for 30th at 13-over. Other golfers for the Cougars were Dalton Sutton (T-45) at 16-over, Cain Stover (T-49) at 17-over, Owen Kreuger (T-81) at 27-over and Nic Ravnbord (T-91) at 32-over.
