Senators, Lady Senators picked to finish first in TCCAA Preseason Basketball Coaches Polls
Both Walters State basketball teams were selected to finish first in the TCCAA Preseason Basketball Coaches Polls on Thursday.
On the men's side, the Senators received 10 of 11 first-place votes for 120 points. Chattanooga State was picked to finish second with 97 points, with Roane State selected to finish third with 93 points.
In fourth, Columbia State was selected with 83 points while Southwest Tennessee was picked fifth with 72 points. The Saluqis received the other first-place vote.
Rounding out the Coaches Poll were Cleveland State in sixth-place with 71 points, Volunteer State in seventh-place with 54 points, Jackson State in eighth-place with 41 points, Pellissippi State in ninth-place with 39 points, Dyersburg State in 10th-place with 29 points and Motlow State in 11th-place with 27 points.
On the women's side, the Lady Senators received five first-place votes and totaled 115 points. Chattanooga State was picked second with 108 points and four first-place votes, and Jackson State was selected third with 91 points and a first-place vote.
In fourth, Dyersburg State was selected with 82 points. The final first-place vote went to Columbia State, who were picked fifth with 74 points.
Rounding out the Coaches Poll were Roane State in sixth-place with 72 points, Southwest Tennessee in seventh-place with 55 points, Cleveland State in eighth-place with 43 points, Pellissippi State in ninth-place with 35 points, Volunteer State in 10th-place with 32 points and Motlow State in 11th-place with 19 points.
