THREE TEAMS SET PACE AS THEY ALL GO 2-0 THIS PAST WEEK; JACKSON STATE'S hANCOCK NAMED PLAYE R OF THE WEEK

Conference play started out with a bang this year as four teams went undefeated the first week of play.  Dyersburg State, Jackson State, and Chattanooga State all went 2-0 this past week while Cleveland State was 1-0 in their only conference game of the week.

Chattanooga State won a barnburner on the first night of play as they scored with two seconds left for a 71-70 win over Walters State.  Dyersburg State also won a close affair over Southwest Tennessee 76-73.  Jackson State followed with a 92-86 triumph over Columbia State.  It was Chattanooga's home opener while Dyersburg and Jackson both got important road victories.  Roane defeated Motlow in the other Wednesday night game by an 81-74 final in their home opener.

Saturday play saw some more close games as Chattanooga defeated Southwest Tennessee 87-84 while Dyersburg defeated Motlow 102-98.  Jackson fought off Roane 88-86 in overtime in their home opener.  Cleveland State traveled to Volunteer State and came away with a 94-77 win while Walters took their home opener over Columbia by 97-85 final.

Jackson State's Kavion Hancock was named the Men's Basketball Player of the week as he averaged 28.5 points in their two conference wins.  He also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2.5 steals in the two contests.
