LADY SENATORS, CHARGERS TOP SEEDS FOR REGION TOURNAMENT AT SOUTHWEST TENNESSEE

Post Season basketball is here, and the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Tournament kicks off this Friday at the Verties Sails Gymnasium on the campus of Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis.  The dates for the tournament run from Friday, March 7, thru Tuesday, March 11, with the championshi[p games.  The tournament champions receive automatic berths in their respective NJCAA Division I Basketball Championship.

The Walters State Lady Senators secured the #1 seed for the women's tournament with a 19-1 conference record.  The #2 seed are the Lady Chargers of Columbia State.  Their first round opponents will be determined by the women's playin games on Friday.  Walters will face the winner of #8 Pellissippi and #9 seed Volunteer who will play at noon on Friday, March 7.  Columbia will fave the winner of #7 seed Southwest Tennessee and #10 Motlow who play at 2 pm on Friday.

First round action will start on Saturday with Walters playing their opponent in the noon game.  At 2 pm, #4 seed Dyersburg will take #5 seed Roane,  Columbia will then take the court against their opponent at 4 pm with the nightcap being the #3 seed Chattanooga taking on #6 Jackson State.  

The semifinals are set for noon and 2 pm on Monday with the winners advancing to the championship game at 2 pm on Tuesday.

The Chargers of Columbia State earned the #1 seed in the men's tournament with a 15-3 conference record.  The #2 seed are the Volunteer State Pioneers.  Like the women, their opponent will be determined by their playin games on Friday.  Columbia will face the winner of the 4 pm contest aas #8 Motlow State will take on #9 Jackson State.  Volunteer will face the winner of the 6 pm contest as #7 seed Pellissippi takes on #10 Cleveland.

The men's first round is slated for Sunday as Columbia will face their opponent at noon followed by the 2 pm contest of #4 seed Chattanooga and #5 seed Roane.  Volunteer will face their opponent at in the 4 pm contest while the 6 pm contest will see #3 seed Walters taking on #6 seed Southwest Tennessee.

The men's semis are set for 4 & 6 pm on Monday with their winners advancing to their championship game at 4 pm on Tuesday.

The presentation of the regular season awards for both  The women and men will take place during their respective first round days. The presentations will take place at the conclusion of the 2 pm games on both days.
