The Chattanooga State Lady Tiger softball team went undefeated this past week in the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Toournament this past week at the Chattanooga State Softball Complex.  With the championship, they also won the NJCAA Appalchian District Championship which automatically qualifies them for the NJCAA Division I Softball World Series to be held at the Pacific Avenue Athletic complex in Yuma (AZ), starting on May 19 and running through May 24.  The Lady Tigers earned their championship with a thrilling 3-1 victory over the Volunteer State Lady Pioneers in the championship game this past Thursday.

In the championship game, the Lady Tigers struck first in the top of the second as Callie Allison would double to lead off the inning.  She would move up on a Makenzie Woodall single, and then score on a one out single by Bella Thornton.  

Chattanooga would add two more runs in the top of the third as Layla Turner would double and Abby Ferguson would walk.  Allison would line two run double in the gap to score both of them for a 3-0 lead.

Volunteer would close the gap in the bottom of the fifth inning as Mikaylah Fuqua on a two out double by A'miyah Collier.  

Chattanooga would have ten hits as a team with Allison with Allison lead the way with two double and a single.  Briley Burns would also reach base twice on a double and a single.  Olivia Steinorth got the win in the game.  She would go the distance, surrendering one earned run on six hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.  She was also named the MVP for the tournament with two wins during the week.

Volunteer had six hits in the contest with Collier reaching on her double and a single.  Lydia Kirby also had two singles in the contest.  Laura Walker would take the loss for the Pioneers as she went four innings, surrendering three earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
