JACKSON'S HANCOCK NAMED 1ST TEAM ALL AMERICAN; DYERSBURG'S MCBRIDE HONORABLE MENTION
The NJCAA announced All-American selections for men's basketball over the weekend. Jackson State's Kavion Hancock was awarded a first team selection while Dyersburg State's Bryce McBride was named Honorable Mention.
Hancock, a 5'11", sophomore guard, 26.0 points per game for the GreenJays. He connected on 47.5% of his shots from the field which included 39.3% from behind the 3-point line. He made 79.6% of his shots from the free throw line. He averaged 3.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.7 steals a game. He helped lead Jackson State to a TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII Runnerup as the GreenJays went 21-5 overall this season. For his accomplishments during the regular season, he was named both the Most Valuable Player and Best Offensive Player this year by the league. He was also a first team TCCAA selection.
McBride, a 6' sophomore guard, averaged 24.2 points per game this year for the Eagles. He connected on 52.8& of his shots from the field, hitting on 45.0-% of his shots from three-point range. He made good on 81.6% of his shots from the free throw line. He averaged 3.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.9 steals per game this season. He helped Dyersburg to a 24-4 overall record and regular season TCCAA Championship. He was also named to the TCCAA All Conference 1st team.
